Belarus – Mir Castle Complex |

The construction of this castle began at the end of the 15th century, in Gothic style. It was subsequently extended and reconstructed, first in the Renaissance and then in the Baroque style. After being abandoned for nearly a century and suffering severe damage during the Napoleonic period, the castle was restored at the end of the 19th century, with the addition of a number of other elements and the landscaping of the surrounding area as a park. Its present form is graphic testimony to its often turbulent history. |

La construction de ce château commença à la fin du XVe siècle en style gothique. Il a été agrandi et reconstruit par la suite, d'abord en style Renaissance, puis en style baroque. Après un siècle d'abandon et les graves dommages subis pendant la période napoléonienne, le château fut restauré à la fin du XIXe siècle. De nombreux autres éléments y furent rajoutés et le paysage environnant aménagé en parc. Sa forme actuelle est un témoignage vivant de son histoire souvent troublée. |

La construcción de este castillo comenzó a finales del siglo XV, en estilo gótico. Posteriormente, fue ampliado y reconstruido, primero en estilo renacentista y más tarde en estilo barroco. Tras un siglo de abandono y los serios daños sufridos durante el período napoleónico, el castillo fue restaurado a finales del siglo XIX. Nuevos elementos fueron añadidos y las tierras del alrededor fueron convertidas en parque. Su forma actual es un testimonio vivo de su turbulenta historia. |

Weißrussland – Schloß Mir |

Der Bau dieses Schlosses fing am Anfang des 15ten Jahrhunderts in einem gotischen Stil an. Er wurde vergrössert und später in Renaissance und dann im barocken Stil wiederaufgebaut. Das hundert Jahre lang verwahrloste Schloß wurde in der Napoleonzeit schwer beschädigt und am Ende des 19ten Jahrhunderts restauriert. Zahlreiche andere Kennzeichen wurden beigefügt und die umgebende Landschaft in einem Park eingerichtet. Sein heutige Aussehen ist ein lebenswahres Zeugnis seiner oft unruhigen Vergangenheit. |
